Poetic Spamming on our Blog Keeps us Entertained

Nobody likes a spammer – they waste our time, damage reputable sites and quite frankly insult us with their cheesy one liners that they expect us to believe are real. If you are a sensible WordPress user you will have installed Akismet to your plug-ins to prevent blog comment spam. We have a little blog elsewhere that we use too, and just had to share this spam comment which was created for the purpose of link building:

Easily, the post is actually the best on this deserving topic. I fit in with your conclusions and will eagerly look forward to your upcoming updates. Just saying thanks will not just be sufficient, for the extraordinary lucidity in your writing. I will at once grab your rss feed to stay privy of any updates. Delightful work and much success in your business efforts!

Clearly a generic comment and a load of poppycock but we give the writer credit for their elaborate phrasing.

Now we’re not saying blog commenting is completely useless for raising your online profile, but each comment should be tailored to the blog being commented on and should add value for the author and readers alike. Adding helpful comments to high profile blogs can be a good way to build awareness of your own blog and writing expertise. However, copy and paste comments on any old blog just to build a link will more than likely be deleted by any sensible blog owner.

If you’d like help raising your own or your company’s online profile, get in touch.
